Anyone interested in an old railroad corner lantern?
I have an old lantern from a tunnel railroad terminal that was hung in the corner of the trail terminal to help the train see the end of the back up spot. IT has a fluted front
It is from the railroad station in Missouri and no one bit on it on ebay--it is not dented or missing anything. It is all meta;
It sounds wonderful! I would try listing it on ebay again now that tax returns are coming.
In my previous posts I talked a lot about Moroccan interior design and posted several pictures of great Moroccan houses. With that in mind, I will talk about what makes Moroccan interior design that good. You're probably looking forward to designing your whole house with the Moroccan style, or maybe you're just looking for a single piece that will complement what you've been working on for a while. In either case, you need to know the following:
First, when choosing a lamp to suit the colors of the walls and the furniture in your room, think of how you can blend it in with the rest. Blending of that hanging Moroccan lamp and other small items will make your room look even better. Let's say that Regina who lives in San Fransisco, for example, has chosen white as the color on the walls, and chosen light blue for the couch (which is not a normal couch, it's an authentic Moroccan couch) and red for the carpet. If she adds another color, it would make the room look messy even when it's not. So buying that white or blue or red lantern is not going to mess with the number of colors. Also, think of where to put the lantern, center or corner? and think of how that will affect the lighting of the room.
Having the necessary elements will not magically turn your room into a great bazaar, you have to know how to handle mixing things around, and that's how you will make a difference at your house.
Second, the carpet that you want to use, what color should it be? I don't think you will have to spend much time on this one, because most Moroccan and other middle eastern carpets are red, and that will make it easy for you when choosing a carpet. The questions here will be how big should it be? if you choose many small ones then you'll probably will want to know where to put each?
There's a simple answer to all of these questions, it all depends on how you want the room to look. If you want more items and a rich texture, then go with 2 or 3 carpets and put one under the couch, one under the table, and one under the TV set.
If you like simplicity like I do, you should get one big carpet, and it would be up to your creativity to decide where to position it.
