I am having problems with my outdoor decking lights. The lights keep tripping when I switch them on??
The decking lights (2 sets - low voltage with transformers) are connected to an outdoor strip socket in weatherproofing box. There is approx. 6 metres of cable from the strip socket to the socket indoors. The lights continue to trip each time I switch them on. However, if I plug the transformers into an extension plug they work no problem. Unfortunately, this is too bulky for the weatherproofing box. Could this be a problem with the strip socket or the 6 metre wiring??
yes, they could have a short or not be properly weather proof.

The phrase "curb appeal" has literally become a household word in the last few years – most homeowners want their house to have that pizzazz on first glance. So how does one get the nod from neighbors without spending too much money in the process?
One of the first things you can do is take an objective look at your house, both your yards - front and back, and assess how your house fits in with the neighborhood in general. Do some sections of your exterior need updating? Are there obvious areas in need of repair, such as fence slats or roof tiles?
Whether you are updating your home for your own pleasure, or sprucing your home up to appeal to potential buyers, here are some easy ways to redo your outdoor space and boost your curb appeal:
Change your numbers: Installing easily visible house numbers immediately adds flair to the look of your house. This quick change is greatly appreciated by anyone looking for a house address, especially after dark. There are many options for house numbers – from brass or other metals to decorative ceramic designs. Look into incorporating a decorative lantern beside your address, or a small flood light for easy viewing by visitors after the sun sets.
Less can be more: De-cluttering is a popular goal inside homes, but it also applies to your yards. Is your lawn gnome collection growing out of control? Do you have a lot of stuff, such as kids' toys, etc., on the lawn that would be better stored in a backyard shed? Maybe it is time to either drastically trim or completely remove those overgrown shrubs.
Light the night: One of the more attractive ways to increase your evening curb appeal is to add low voltage, or even solar powered lamps along your sidewalk. Weaving a string of white lights through a tree near your house adds an inviting and often romantic touch to your home.
Color is key: Making a complete change with a full exterior paint job can bring an entirely new life to your home. But if your budget will now allow such a major overhaul, consider painting or staining the trim areas – door and window frames, shutters and fence posts. Re-staining or painting your deck or front porch will also make a significant difference to the look of your home. You may also want to consider replacing your front door with an updated design and color.
Plant a new look: Seasonal plants make a world of difference to the curb appeal of your home. If you don't have room, or the desire, to plant a large garden, a small collection of planter boxes or decorative pots will suffice. Check with your local nursery retailer to find out which plants are best for the current season, and add them to the front of your house for instant visual pleasure.
