Help all you smart Men out there Does anyone know why my snow thrower would stop running while in use?
It was running just fine and than just died out. I know I am a blonde but I already made sure it wasn't out of gas. It is a Toro ccr 2450 and it is only a year old I have only used it twice this year and twice last winter. It ran fine in the morning but quit working while i was in the middle of using it in the evening. I know this is the Auto repair forum but I thought some of you smart guys out there may have some suggestions on what i can try before I take it in. Thanks everyone !!!
You may have fouled a spark plug. Since it happened all of a sudden, I doubt that anything mechanical could be the cause. Your ignition module may be bad. To check for spark, remove the plug from the block of the engine. Connect the spark plug wire to it, and with the switch on, crank the engine with the tang on the bottom of the plug grounded to the engine block (careful do not touch the wire or plug). You should be able to see a spark. If not, replace the plug and try again. If you do not get spark, the ignition module is bad. If you are getting spark, but the engine will still not run, you will need to check the fuel supply line and any filter. Also, make sure the supply valve (if so equipped) is in the on position. If all of these efforts prove fruitless, you may have an open intake valve or exhaust valve preventing the engine from having enough compression. In this case, you will need to have it serviced by the dealer or other small engine repair. Good luck.
