LED Vs. HPS/MH grow lights... WHICH IS BETTER?

I am growing tomatoes indoors. in previous years i have used HPS lights for my blooming stage. I am interested to see these new LED grow lights cause they have such lower power usages but do they really stand up to HPS and MH lights?
i ASSURE YOU ITS FOR GROWING TOMATOES LOLOL

i wouldn't trust led grow lights, leds don't give off any uv radiation, stay with the simpler HPS, it gives of more uv.
~anyone know about these askers asking about growlights? is it for growing what i think? LOL!

What type of lighting is best for outdoor sporting events?

Was just kind of wondering what type of lighting Professional sporting events use. Incandescent = cheapest, H.P.S. = most Lumens, M.H. = Best color. Need to light a few outdoor volleyball courts and don't want to purchase something that will end up being either poor light quality or not enough lumens to light the entire courts.

Just use Incandescent.

Light emitting diode (LED) grow lighting sources assist in the growing of plants indoors because their basic electronic structure can be engineered to provide the exact lighting spectrum needed to optimize the growth and flowering of plants. This spectrum of blue, orange and red was originally developed by NASA to efficiently grow plants on the international space station. Astronauts needed to produce their own food because of some of the long stays on the ISS and for research in sustainable food production on trips to other planets. The engineers of NASA invented the LED lighting source that is super efficient (used less electricity), produces a low amount of heat and creates the exact bandwidth for plants to grow and produce food.

Most lighting industry experts are confident that LED lighting will begin to replace all other lighting sources including compact fluorescents. One of the world's largest lighting manufacturers has stopped all research and development into any other light sources except solid state lighting which is the category LED lights fall under. This company alone is investing 5% of their current revenues into research in solid state lighting.

Here are some of the benefits of utilizing LED lights to grow plants of all types:

- LED Grow Lights are very efficient in transforming electricity into light. This means that LED's use up to 80% of the energy used to create light. In comparison, incandescent lights efficiency is at around 5%. This efficiency produces less heat and a high watt to lumen ratio.

- LED grow lights have a lower heat signature and are less likely to burn leaves. Conventional plant lighting creates high temperature zones under the hood which will burn leaves and flowers if the plant is placed too close to the bulb.

- The minimum heat produced by LED's and efficient use electricity allows people living in small homes, offices or apartments easier access to the indoor gardening world. In a small space, such as a closet or basement corner, they can grow large amounts of organic food affordably all year long without concerns of climate or available outdoor space.

- LED's produce low or no UV light because of how the light is designed and manufactured. Most other legacy lighting sources produce a broad spectrum of light that a plant does not use efficiently. Legacy types of grow lights do have a more focused spectrum but produce a lighting spectrum that goes into the ultraviolet (UV) spectrum which can be harmful to plants and people.

- LED lights produce a directional cone of light that sends light in a measurable direction. A standard bulb heats a filament and or gas to create light. This type of lighting goes in all directions making the use of hoods and reflectors necessary to direct the light to the plants. The average angle of light coming from a LED grow light is 120 degrees compared to 360 degrees in conventional lighting.

I am interested in starting off chilli seedlings using LED GROW LIGHT PANEL BLUE/RED LAMP FOR HYDROPONICS with asmall aqua ponics system anyone used these LED lamps for seedlings? Is it worth the outlay?

So you thinking about getting a led light bar for the back of you truck?

It looks cool on the back and adds some more lighting for the drivers behind you.But you are wondering how complicated is it to install your led light bar on your truck? You need some idea because you are not sure you want get into something very complicated.

We here at Edgeolite sellers of led truck lights, we came out with this simple installation article to help you in your decision making process for putting a led light bar on the back of your truck. The article is just to give you an idea of the basic installation process for the rear led light bar , but the installation can vary from truck to truck. You should go by the manufactures installation guide for installing your led light.

Here are they basics for installing a rear LED light bar mounted underneath the tailgate on the rear of your truck. This light bar is used as an addition to the rear tail lights in all functions: parking lamp illumination, stop lamps, turn signals lights. The average weekend mechanic can wire an LED light bar into the trucks towing adapter plug in about ½ hour-1hr..

Look under the truck to find the towing adapter harness usually to the left under the rear bumper, up on the rear frame rail. If you truck is equipped with a tow plug, or at least the wires tucked up into the frame or body for this use, as the standard wiring harness from the manufacturer. Cut back the wire loom to see the color wire then strip them the wires to expose about an inch of core copper for each wire.

Then attach the led light to the truck on the back of the bed floor below the tail gate. Using what ever the manufacturer instructs you to use to attach to the truck. Make sure the led wires are in the same area the truck wiring harness that you previously striped.

Now using butt connectors attach the same color wire form the led light to the same color on the truck harness. (Note I like to use shrink tube on all my connection to make sure there is no moisture in my connections) Then wrap each connection with electrical tape one at time as each connection is made. Remember to follow the wiring direction from the manufacturer of the light, but this information here should be close again to give you a good idea of the work involved in installing a led light bar.

Then run a test and make sure all led light is working with the rest of your vehicles lights. If everything is fine. Now go a head and attach the new wires and wiring harness up to the truck frame in a neat fashion using plastic wire ties. Make sure there is nothing that will rub through the wiring.
